A simple guide to metals and purity
What the numbers on your jewellery actually mean.

Gold purity is measured in karats. 24K is pure gold, which is too soft for most jewellery. 22K is about 91.6% gold, 18K is 75% gold and 14K is about 58.5% gold; the rest is alloy that adds strength and sets the colour.
Rose gold and white gold are gold alloys. Rose gold gets its blush from copper, while white gold is usually finished with rhodium plating for a bright white surface that may need refreshing over time.
Sterling silver is marked 925, meaning it is 92.5% silver. Check each product page for the exact metal, purity and hallmark details of the piece you are choosing.
